School Leaders Feel The Power

Updated: Aug 17, 2022

A school’s infrastructure can be easily and efficiently changed to better support gifted students. Can you feel the power? If so, use it to help our underserved gifted students.

School leaders are quick to claim they focus on what is best for the student with all their conversations, initiatives and ideas.

Actions Talk: Watch and observe if a school leader’s choices are from a task manager or are, they from a visionary leader? The enlightened leader uses practical applications to grow all levels of learners in their school. The ripple effect of this positive leadership style is felt throughout a school. Students, teachers, parents, community, and district supervisors feel The Power!

It is so exciting to witness the positive stories in schools when a visionary school leader takes steps to serve their underserved gifted student population.

Parents of gifted students yearn for these leaders. You can see it in their frustrations with the “status quo” which does not accelerate their young learner. A school leader who listens and understands their child can offer what it takes and breaks down barriers for their child. Authority structures in schools are called upon to inspire the confidence of parents. Do this! Earn the trust that allows parents to know their children are safe and learning at the top of their abilities!

“The first step to providing an improved accelerated education plan is to learn additional facts about the needs of their own gifted student” according to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE, 2020). Parents have the power to enhance their child’s learning through a few simple actions. Information in future blogs will explain how a variety of organizational structures can provide opportunities to successfully carry out these actions.

School leaders and parents of gifted students will recognize the children in scenarios and examples in future blogs. Each scenario is confidentially written from a true-life experience with a gifted student. The scenarios provide a reality in the practical application of the tools in serving gifted children.

Let’s use our power to put the needs of our students first!
